Late Autumn

Welcome

The inspiration for my work continues to evolve from my passion for nature, where I currently specialize in Trees, and soon to include Astronomy as a subject.

I attempt to evoke the very essence of a tree, or woodland within the home, in the hope to stimulate the visual healing powers that trees are renowned for. Subconsciously the colour green is thought to be the most calming colour in the spectrum, whilst being easy on the eye. These are the strength I attempt to capture in the artwork I produce.

My passion comes from the belief that a tree, woodland, forests has, and still continues to play, a central role in the biodiversity of life on this planet. I despair therefore, when I see deforestation being conducted with such malice.

Whilst being powerless to do anything about this, I do advocate the term ‘be the change you want to see in the world’ and so adopt a hands-on-approach, acting as I do, the Tree Warden for Angmering village, where I grow up, and where, by planting trees with the community, people are able to claim a tree as their own in a scheme called ‘A Tree4Life’.

More resent works (2011) have finally evolved from my other interest Astronomy. Naturally science plays a key role as the source of inspiration to my work, together with Astrology, and the ancient worlds and their beliefs and understandings in the skies above. Sadly these days we’ve lost this connection, as light pollution cuts us off from the very place all life evolved.

My work attempts to try and restore that link, by celebrating celestial events, and through illustration within the artwork the workings of our solar system, and its functions on a daily basis e.g. I have always believed the moon played, and continues play, a key role in our very existence. Science is now coming to the same conclusion, where a better understanding of the influence the moon has on the planet, and the species which dwell upon its surface. The very fact that the moon help to slow this planet down, may even mean we might not of come into existence at all, if it was not for the moon, is for me testimony enough to want to celebrate.
